The TEAC Tascam 144 is a vintage analogue recording device, released in 1979. It was the first four-track cassette recorder and it was used for home recording studios and by musicians for demo recordings or small-scale projects. The Tascam 144 was part of the Portastudio series, which revolutionised home recording in the 1980s by providing affordable multitrack recording capabilities.
This 144 not only looks and sounds good, but is also a little piece of history!
Condition:
- This is a used unit.
- This 144 has has a major service. The service included but is not limited to:
- Deep clean inside and out.
- Deep clean of the tape mechanism.
- Lubricated and greased all moving parts.
- Installed brand new belts.
- Installed brand new idler tyres.
- Demagnetised the heads.
- Replaced any faulty components.
- Thorough test of all functions.
- This unit shows some general wear from use and age. This includes some scuffs, scratches and nicks. The finish on the faceplate is a little patchy looking. The knob and button caps have turned a bit yellow. Nothing major at all. Overall it is still a nice 144. Please see photos for further details.
- Please be aware this unit is 100V. This means it MUST be used with a step-down transformer. A high quality, isolated step-down will be included for Australian and New Zealand buyers only. If you purchase from overseas you may also need to use a step-down. Please get in touch before purchase or powering on if you are unsure at all.
