Yamaha CS-40M Analogue Duophonic Synthesiser
The Yamaha CS-40m analogue synthesiser was created in 1979, this duophonic (2-voice) synth brought affordability to those seeking more than a mono-synth experience.
Featuring a 44-note, keyboard, 36 knobs, 12 sliders, and over a dozen buttons for hands-on performance and editing, it offers easy customisation.
Although sharing its name CS-80, the CS-40m is more reminiscent of the CS-20m, offering two analog oscillators per voice with triangle, sawtooth, square waveforms, and a noise generator. Each oscillator boasts a simple AR envelope generator for dynamic sound shaping.
The multi-mode VCF (filter) provides lowpass, bandpass, and highpass options with cutoff and resonance controls. Although the resonance can't self-oscillate, its ADSR envelope generator allows for sweeping filter effects. Plus, there's a basic LFO for modulating VCO, VCF, or VCA.
