Thorens TD 125 MK II Vintage Turntable W/ SHURE SME Model 3009 Tonearm
The Thorens TD 125 Mk II, introduced in 1972, is a highly regarded vintage turntable known for its precision engineering and superior sound quality. Manufactured in Germany by EMT, it features a belt-driven system powered by a 16-pole synchronous AC motor, with electronic speed control via a Wien bridge oscillator, allowing for 16, 33⅓, and 45 RPM playback with ±2% pitch adjustment .
Its substantial 3.2 kg (7 lbs) anti-magnetic die-cast platter and three-point suspended sub-chassis effectively isolate the tonearm and platter from external vibrations, minimizing rumble to an impressive -68 dB . The TD 125 Mk II is compatible with various tonearms, offering flexibility for audiophiles . This is a used unit.
- This unit is in good condition for its age. It shows some obvious signs of general wear like some marks, nicks and scratches. The unit and tone arm show some light signs of oxidisation. This unit is missing its original feet. Overall it is still a nice piece. Please see all photos.
- The dust cover has a large chip in it at the back, one large scratch, a couple of small cracks as well as lots of smaller marks, nicks and scratches. The lid has no hinges.
- The strobo in this unit has been modified with a blue light.
- This turntable ships with its original box.
- This unit has a an SME 3009 tonearm installed. (Please note that in the 80's Shure distributed for SME in the USA and some other markets, thus the Shure logo is also on the tonearm showing indicating the distribution relationship between the two companies).
- This unit has had a major service. All faulty components were replaced. It has since been thoroughly tested and we can confirm it has no faults to note.
- This unit has a brand new Ortofon OM5S installed. It has just been used for testing purposes. This cartridge and stylus are perfect to get you started.
- This unit is 117-220V. It is currently set up for 220V for use in Australia, New Zealand and many other countries around the world.
- To use this unit in a country which uses 100-120V you will need to get your local licensed technician to swap it over. Or you can use it with a step-up transformer.
- This sale is for the unit, SME 3009, Ortofon OM5S and original box only. Nothing else is included in this sale.
