This is an early black label, made in Japan model. It was produced in August 1979. The Serial number can be found in the battery compartment above the boss logo. It is #8500. One thing to keep in mind about this pedal from 1979 is that is also has the momentary LED. On the earliest boss pedal, up to about mid - late '79, The LED only momentarily lights to "check" battery strength. It does not latch on like the boss pedals from the 80's onwards.
