Kurzweil K 250 RMX Vintage 80s Synthesiser Sequencer Sampler Version 4.1 - 240V

A true piece of synth history right here! The Kurzweil K250 has a pretty special origin story: it began after Stevie Wonder challenged Raymond Kurzweil to create an instrument that could combine computer control with the expressive sound of real acoustic instruments. Wonder became a musical advisor to Kurzweil Music Systems, and early K250 prototypes were built for him in 1983. Officially unveiled at the 1984 Summer NAMM show, the K250 became one of the landmark digital instruments of the decade, combining sampled acoustic sounds, synthesis, sequencing, and a fully weighted keyboard. The K250 RMX was released a few years later.

The Kurzweil K250 RMX is the rack mount version of the Kurzweil K250 system, released in the mid-1980s and documented by Kurzweil as an 8-space rack module. The K250 line was one of Kurzweil’s early flagship digital instruments, built around sampled sounds stored in ROM, including Kurzweil’s well-known acoustic instrument sounds. The K250 architecture supports 12-voice polyphony, MIDI operation, layered/multitimbral sound use, and onboard sequencing functions.
