The Tascam MS-16 is a legendary 16-track, 1-inch reel-to-reel tape recorder, first introduced in the late 1980s. Known for its warm analog sound, it's still used by studios today for recording drums, guitars, and more, offering that authentic tape vibe!
The Tascam AQ-65 is a versatile Auto Locator and Tape Transport Controller, designed for use with Tascam's MS-16. Launched in 1985, it simplifies tape handling in studios by offering a 10-point memory system, allowing users to store and recall tape positions with precision. Its Return to Zero (RTZ) function brings the tape back to a preset start point, while the pre-roll feature enables programmable pre-roll times, allowing for smoother alignment of takes. Additionally, the AQ-65's ability to loop sections of tape with its repeat playback feature makes it a useful tool for recording and overdubbing sessions
Condition:
• This is a used unit.
• This unit has had a major service. The unit is a pleasure to use and is fully functioning.
• Since this MS-16 and AQ-65 have been professionally serviced they are ready to go at home or in the studio.
• The service included testing all functions, repairing any faults, replacing all faulty electronic parts, deep clean and service of the tape mechanism / transport, installing brand new bearings, PSU refurbishment, demagnetising the heads and calibrating input and record levels.
• The cosmetic condition of the MS-16 is great, the unit shows a small amount of wear from use and age. Nothing major at all, nor anything which detracts from the use, functions or sound of this beauty. There are general small marks and light scratches. Please see all photos. Overall it is still a very nice piece!
• The cosmetic condition of the AQ-64 is good, however it shows more wear than the MS-16. This includes nicks, scratches and sections around some buttons where the finish has started to rub off. Please see all photos for further details.
• This unit is a factory 240V model. This means it is ready to plug and play within Australia! If you purchase from overseas you may need a step-up transformer. Please ask if you are unsure.
• This sale is for the MS-16 and AQ-65 only. No other parts, tape reels or accessories are included.
