Yamaha SG1500 1981 Jade Green Electric Guitar - Made In Japan

Crafted in Japan in 1981, the Yamaha SG1500 is a standout guitar, admired by Carlos Santana for its top-tier craftsmanship, smooth playability, and exceptional tone clarity. Now available is a well-maintained 1981 Yamaha SG1500 in excellent condition, complete with the original hardshell case.

This SG1500 features a three-ply maple/mahogany neck through construction, known as the T-Cross System, ensuring stability and tonal complexity. Unlike its SG2000 counterpart, it has a solid mahogany body for warmth and growl. The humbuckers offer detailed and punchy tones with push/push coil splits on the Tone pots, a feature unique to this version.

The neck has a slender C-shaped profile and the rosewood fretboard features pearloid split triangle inlay.

Condition:

  • This is a used guitar.

  • Physically this unit is in good condition for a 43 year old guitar. It shows some wear / oxidisation on the picks ups, bridge and other parts. There are a few some small dents, nicks and scratches. The paintwork is a bit cloudy in sections, it is sort of hard to see and we have tried our best to provide photographs. There is a little on the front, but mainly on the sides, back and on back of the headstock. Please see all photos. Overall it is still a nice guitar.

  • This guitar has been tested. It is fully functional, the intonation has been checked. The frets are are a little worn, but still have plenty of life left and are smooth and shiny. It plays nicely and sounds great!

  • This Yamaha SG has had a minor service and thorough test. This included:

    • Cleaning the neck, buffed and polished frets.

    • Pickup height adjusted.

    • String height adjusted.

    • Switches and pots were cleaned.

    • Brand new Elixer strings have been installed.

  • For safety during shipping, tension will be taken off the neck. The guitar will need to be tuned on arrival.

  • Please note that although we have tested the intonation and set up the guitar here, due to the nature of guitars as well as the shipping and handling process there is a chance you will need to set up the guitar again. The set up may need to be modified to suit your personal preferences.

  • Guitars picked up from our West Gosford store will set up ready to play!

  • This unit will ship in its OG road case. It shows some general wear. It smells a little old and musty inside, but overall still great for shipping and caring your new guitar around in.
