Yamaha Studio Lord SL400S 80's Electric Guitar - Made In Japan - Cherry Sunburst
The Studio Lord is a nice entry into vintage, Japanese, "law suit era" guitars. The build quality is excellent, which is why they have become more sort after these days.
This guitar was built in Japan, and only ever released in Japan. It was never released in other markets. The Serial number search has been slightly difficult because of this, however, we estimate this guitar to have been built in the late 70's to early 80's. Possibly 1981. The serial number is 027717.
The SL400S features a sold mahogany body, with a maple top. It has a bolt on maple neck, with a rosewood fretboard.
Condition:
- This is a used guitar.
- Physically this unit is in very good condition for its age. It shows some very small signs of use and wear. Most notably some small signs of oxidisation on the hardware, as well as some light scratches and small nicks. There is one hole near the strap pin, where one must have been removed in the past. There is absolutely nothing major at all. Please see all photos.
- This guitar has been tested. It is fully functional, the intonation has been checked. The frets are in great condition. They are at a medium height, level and smooth. The action is low.
- This guitar has had a minor service. This included:
- Cleaning the neck, buffed and polished frets.
- Oiling the fretboard.
- Pickup height adjusted.
- String height adjusted.
- Graphite has been added to nut.
- Switches and pots were cleaned.
- Brand new D'Addario 10-46 Nickel Wound strings were installed.
- For safety during shipping, tension will be taken off the neck. The guitar will need to be tuned on arrival.
- Please note that although we have tested the intonation and set up the guitar here, due to the nature of guitars as well as the shipping and handling process there is a chance you will need to set up the guitar again. The set up may need to be modified to suit your personal preferences.
- Guitars picked up from our West Gosford store will set up ready to play!
- This guitar will ship with a soft Yamaha carry bag. Unfortunately one of the handles are broken. It is still great to keep your guitar protected while not in use.
