The Sequential Prophet-5 is a classic polyphonic analogue synthesiser, notable for its role in shaping the sound of 1980s music. 

It is a highly regarded vintage analog synthesiser, celebrated for its warm, classic sound and rich modulation capabilities. Introduced in the late 1970s, it was the first synthesiser to incorporate full programmability with memory storage, allowing musicians to store patches and recall them instantly. The Rev 3 uses Curtis CEM chips instead of the earlier SSM chips found in the Rev 2, making it more stable and less maintenance-intensive than previous revisions. It features five voices of polyphony, each with two VCOs (voltage-controlled oscillators), a resonant low-pass filter, and an envelope generator.

With MIDI integration added to later units, the Rev 3.3 remains a favorite among musicians for both its portability and ability to produce lush, textured sounds that defined much of the 1980s music scene. Today, it’s sought after by collectors and professionals for its authentic analog tones and historic value in electronic music production

This sale is for a Prophet-5 Rev 3.2 which has been upgraded to the Prophet-5 Rev 3.3.

Condition:

  • This is a used unit. 

  • Physically this unit is in great condition for a synth of this age. It does show some general wear from use and age like some marks, nicks and scratches. Most notably the Prophet-5 logo on the front has rubbed off a bit and the knobs show lots of small marks and scratches. The Wooden chassis is overall in great condition. It shows a little discolouration and some small nicks and chips. Nothing major though. Overall it is still a very nice synthesiser! 
  • This Prophet 5 has been serviced. It is 100% functional. All functions are working as they should. It has no faults to note.

  • This Prophet-5 has MIDI I/O. 

  • This unit has recently come from a service. This included but is not limited to:

    • The key bed was stripped, cleaned. Brand new key bushings have been installed and the keys have been re-greased. 

    • Tact switches and rotary pots were cleaned.

    • A brand new memory battery has been installed. 

    • Full calibration to factory specifications. 

    • All faulty components have been replaced. 
       
    • This unit has been burnt in and tested since this service. It looks and sounds great! 

  • This unit is 115-230V. This means it can be used nearly anywhere in the world with a flick of a switch on the back. It currently has an Australian plug end for use in Australia and New Zealand. 

      **You MUST ensure the switch is set to the correct position for your country before powering on this unit**

  • This unit will have a one year back to base warranty. The customer is responsible for getting the unit to and from Lofi Music. Repairs will be free of charge. Please note the warranty does not cover drops, spills or misuse. After the warranty expires we will offer support and discounted serving on this Prophet 5.  

  • This sale is for the Prophet 5 only. Nothing else is included in this sale.
