Ortofon SPU Ethos Limited Edition MC Phono Cartridge Nude Elliptical Stylus
Released in 2020 and limited to 500 units worldwide, the Ortofon SPU Ethos is a low-output moving-coil cartridge from Ortofon’s long-running SPU range.
It features a nude elliptical diamond stylus mounted on an aluminium cantilever, an 8N ultra-high-purity copper coil and a powerful neodymium magnet. Its integrated shell is made from a composite of wood powder and resin.
It requires a suitable moving-coil phono stage or step-up transformer with a recommended load impedance of at least 10 ohms. Recommended tracking force is 4g.
The cartridge weighs 32g, so tonearm compatibility and counterweight capacity should be checked before purchase.
A scarce limited-edition SPU combining Ortofon’s traditional integrated-headshell design with a nude elliptical stylus and high-purity 8N copper coils.
