Suzuki TES-100 Waraku Electric Taishogoto Koto Synthesiser Harp w/ MIDI & Case!
A rare and very interesting find, the Suzuki TES-100 Waraku is a distinctive electronic instrument introduced in 1989, blending traditional Japanese musical elements with digital technology. Designed in the shape of a Taishogoto (a Japanese harp), it features a 27-key keyboard paired with a 5-string bridge, allowing for expressive play using a guitar pick. The instrument offers 16 built-in sounds, including traditional Japanese instruments like the koto, shamisen, and shakuhachi, as well as unique voice tones. Additionally, it includes four assignable drum pads and a percussion mode that enables the keyboard to trigger various exotic percussion sounds. The TES-100 is equipped with MIDI output, facilitating integration with external MIDI devices, and features a pitch bend lever and vibrato switch for added expressiveness.
The Suzuki TES-100 Waraku is indeed a unique and engaging instrument, much like the Suzuki Omnichord. Its blend of traditional Japanese sounds with digital synthesis offers a captivating experience for both playing and learning.
Condition:
- This is a used unit.
- Physically this unit is in great condition for its age. It shows some general wear from use and age like some marks, nicks and scratches. There is some peeling to the veneer cover, which apparently is pretty common.
A previous owner has written on the case and the unit with paint pen. The strings have some oxidisation on them. Nothing major. Overall this is a cool and nice looking piece!
